Terms & Conditions

The agreement between us.

Last updated · 20 May 2026

1 · The service

DJ Anker provides live DJ services — ceremony audio, reception programming, and live set performance — for weddings, corporate events, matric farewells, 21sts, birthdays, and private functions across South Africa, primarily within a 120 km radius of Somerset West.

Each booking is treated as a bespoke service contract between DJ Anker (the “Service Provider”) and you (the “Client” — the person who pays the deposit on the booking page).

2 · Booking + deposit

  • A R3,500 non-refundable deposit secures the date. The date is held only once the deposit lands as a successful Paystack transaction — not when the booking form is submitted.
  • The balance is due 14 days before the event date, or on the night by prior arrangement.
  • Add-ons may be added or removed up to 7 days before the event without penalty. Cold-spark and photo-booth bookings made or cancelled inside that 7-day window keep their full fee.

3 · Cancellation

If the Client cancels:

  • More than 90 days before the event — the R3,500 deposit is forfeited; no further fee.
  • Between 90 and 30 days — deposit forfeited and 25% of the balance is due.
  • Inside 30 days — full booking fee is due (the date can no longer be re-sold).

If DJ Anker cancels (illness, accident, equipment failure beyond redundancy):

  • A suitable replacement DJ from the local network is offered first. The Client may accept or decline.
  • If declined, the deposit and any balance paid are refunded in full within 5 working days. The Service Provider is not liable for consequential losses (deposits paid to other vendors, opportunity costs, etc.).

4 · Force majeure

Events outside reasonable control — natural disaster, government order, extreme weather, road closure — release both parties from obligation. In that case the deposit carries to a rescheduled date within 24 months at no extra charge, or is refunded at the Client's request.

5 · Equipment + damage liability

  • DJ Anker carries professional-grade equipment with built-in redundancy. The Service Provider is responsible for its setup, operation, and safe pack-down.
  • The Client is liable for damage caused by guests or other vendors to DJ Anker's equipment during the event (drinks-on-mixer, dropped microphones, accidental cable trips). Damage is invoiced at replacement cost within 30 days.
  • Venue-supplied equipment (in-house PA, lighting rig, dancefloor power supply) remains the venue's responsibility. DJ Anker is not liable for venue equipment failure during the event.

6 · Travel + accommodation

  • Travel costed at R9 per kilometre round-trip from Somerset West. The travel fee is shown on the quote before the booking is confirmed — there are no hidden costs added later.
  • For venues more than 120 km from Cape Town, the Client provides accommodation for the DJ for the night of the event. Standard double-room equivalent is sufficient.

7 · Music + licensing

DJ Anker holds the appropriate broadcast and public-performance licences for South Africa (SAMRO / SAMPRA mechanical rights). Music is sourced from licensed digital libraries; nothing the Client supplies is published or redistributed.

Recordings of DJ Anker's mixes remain the DJ's intellectual property. The Client may share photos and videos from the event freely — no licence fee, no permission required.

8 · Limit of liability

The Service Provider's total liability under any single booking is limited to the total fee paid by the Client for that booking. The Service Provider is not liable for emotional distress, indirect, or consequential damages.

9 · Disputes + governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any dispute is resolved first by direct conversation — phone, WhatsApp, or in person — and only escalated to formal mediation if direct resolution fails.

Jurisdiction for any formal proceedings is the Magistrates' Court of Somerset West, Western Cape.

10 · Updates to these terms

Terms may be updated occasionally — pricing changes, new add-ons, POPIA updates. Couples with confirmed bookings keep the terms in place at the time the deposit was paid. The current version applies to new bookings only.
