Steenberg sits in Constantia at the southern end of Cape Town's wine corridor. It is the most formal of our regular venues — the room expects fine dining service standards, and the sound brief follows. We programme softer for the seated reception here than we do at Lourensford or Spier; the night peaks later.
Catharina's Restaurant handles the seated reception (40-120). The private function rooms handle the after-party (up to 180 standing). The transition between the two is managed by the venue coordinator on a tight clock — usually 22:00 sharp.
Catharina's is a converted wine cellar — dampened, warm, low-reverb. The room wants soft, articulate mid-range music for the seated portion. The function rooms upstairs are bright with hard floors and high ceilings — we deploy a second sub and a delay line for that space so the dancefloor feels weighted from the centre.
Loading dock at the rear of the restaurant — discreet, doesn't disturb the diners-not-at-the-wedding who might still be in the main room early in the evening. Power feed dedicated to the function rooms (no risk of tripping the kitchen breakers). Parking is valet-assisted for guests; vendor vehicles stay at the loading bay until 23:30.
